The Community Programme focuses on engagement of young players and to provide inclusive and accessible sport for all children, regardless of socio-economic background. Havant HC has a well established pathway from school to junior to senior hockey, and we hope through this programme, players have the opportunity to progress from beginners to accomplished players.

Our Impact

In the last academic year, 750 children will have had exposure to hockey through our in-curriculum school coaching programme. We are looking to build on this in the coming year with the addition of several new schools into the programme.

350 different children (and over 1,500 in total) between ages 5-15 have attended at least one day of camp since Spring 2024. We expanded our camp programme last summer by introducing a performance summer series for U15-17 age groups, which offered more advanced level coaching for players involved in (or aspiring to be part of) the England Hockey Player Pathway.

We have a fantastic team of coaches who all have attained at least Level 1 Coaching qualifications, are all First Aid trained and have up-to-date DBS checks. Coaches are encouraged to build their coaching skills and challenge themselves by taking additional qualifications, such as the Level 2 Sessional Coaching qualification. We offer coaching positions for entry-level to experienced coaches, along with offering volunteer opportunity for Duke of Edinburgh award participants.
