Havant Hockey Club offers several ways to play, ranging from competitive National League hockey to social hockey and “Back to Hockey” sessions for beginners or those returning to the sport. The club has its own artificial playing surface, based at Havant College, and caters to various ages and skill levels, including men’s, women’s, and junior sections.
Here are the specific ways to play:
Senior Competitive (Men & Women):
Beginner & Returning Player Programs:
Junior & Youth Hockey:
Havant Hockey Club’s Junior section follows the England Hockey junior framework, with training and matches for those aged 6-18. We also have the opportunity for older juniors to develop coaching skills and use their skills to help progress their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme or Sports Leadership certifications. The club is an accredited England Hockey Talent Centre and has been awarded a Talent Acadamy licence for the past several years – firmly cementing ourselves as the leading provider of junior hockey in the region.
Removing Financial Barriers to Sport
Havant Hockey Club runs a strong community outreach programme designed to make hockey accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. With the generous support of our donors and sponsors, we provide funded and subsidised opportunities across both youth and senior sections.
Support is available through a range of options, including subsidies, grants, flexible payment plans and deferred payments. This assistance can help cover membership subscriptions as well as essential playing equipment such as hockey sticks, training shoes and playing kit.
The Club also introduced Free Playing Membership for full-time university students. This recognises that many players already pay membership fees to their university teams, and an additional club subscription can prevent them from taking part in weekend hockey. Free full-time university student membership also applies to Havant players who have moved away from home for their studies, enabling them to remain members of the club during their time at university.
We are committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to enjoying hockey. All requests for support are treated sensitively and in the strictest confidence. If you would like to explore the options available, please speak privately with your relevant section lead.
How to get involved:
Typically the best way to get involved is to join one of our regular training sessions to meet the coaches and players, and when you’re comfortable, to get involved in the various teams we have. Training for adults and juniors takes place at Havant College on weekdays, details of our training sessions and who to contact are available here.
For more information, you can contact the club through our website, or email hockey@havanthockeyclub.org.uk to learn more about getting involved in the sport we love.
