We ended our season on a high with what turned out to be a fairly comfortable win over younger opponents. We took the lead with a fairly scruffy opener, then doubled it when the captain turned in Greg's cross. Not for the first time this season we then lost our way a bit and they pulled one back after one of their younger players ran through several challenges to create the chance. With all to play for in the second half the game turned on two goals in quick succession from Kieran, the first when played in by Greg, the second when Brian Palmer's ball from the back somehow found its way past any number of defenders to leave him one-on-one with the keeper. When he added his third shortly afterwards it looked like we might run away with it, but to their credit they fought back and made it tough for us in the final quarter, pulling one goal back and nearly another, only to be thwarted by Martin's last ditch save. Sixth place in the league and more wins that losses, overall a very satisfactory season. Special thanks to Scott and family for umpiring, thereby enabling this much postponed fixture to finally go ahead.
